WHY DO CHAT BOTS ONLY HAVE TO BE ABOUT TEXT?

Background

We all interact with images everyday from the gif your friend sent you, or just scrolling aimlessly through your favorite news feed of choice. With companies like Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, and WeChat allowing for chat bot companies like Assist and Uber and others are trying to create a personal AI experience through chat. But what about images? For a retailer in fashion images are a big part of the conversation through onsite messaging systems and on Facebook pages. We set out to create an experience using JustVisuals machine learning visual search in a chat AI context to help the end user find what they are looking for in a fun and engaging way.

Product Research

While talking with fashion retailers they said they wanted a way to engage with their customers in a more timely manner in the social context their consumers are using. We wanted to create bots on platforms that users already where sending photos into so it felt natural. We researched platforms that allowed for bots. The biggest thing was to make it fun and engaging and fast. On our test of a leading fashion retailer it took them over an hour to reply to our dress image and they just sent us to a link of a dress search result page on their site. Where as we can directly send the user to pages with similar dresses in seconds.

Results

We created a twitter proof of concept along with a version made in a chat context that allows a user to send an image to our AI helper and return visually relevant results.

GIVE FINDLIKETHAT A TRY

This was our proof of concept send any woman’s fashion image to FindLikeThat and it will find something similar. This Version does only one single auto crop for now but its able todo multiple automated crops to allow the user to do a search on any part of fashion image.
